Ok - many of these tracks are interesting and creative and lyrical in many different ways. Interesting instruments, experimental forms, pleasant voices. But somehow, to me, most of the tracks seemed repetitive or boring or annoying, even with the different sounds or unusual rhythms. Maybe it's just me, but most just seemed to keep repeating the same "hook" all the way through the song, whatever that "hook" was. I would start each song and get interested, but then get tired of it before it was 1/3 over, (though I did listen all the way through to be fair). However, I did like track 1 quite a lot. I also appreciated that the notes were musical and I don't think anybody screamed. Some may enjoy these quite a bit, but I guess not me, much.

I came across Sargent House last year with the release of Maps & Atlases 'You And Me And The Mountain' EP, and quickly fell in love with their entire roster of bands. This sampler highlights some of my favorite songs from each, and encapsulates all that Sargent House has to offer. Brilliant, unique and thought-provoking music that should be heard by the masses. The best aspect is that its absolutely FREE! Sargent House is sure to become one of the best indie labels out there, do yourself a favor and check this out!

oh how i love sargent house.
so many of my favorite bands hail from this label; it truly doesn't get much better than this.
honest musicians making beautiful music.
i recommend it to everyone.

The musicianship really isn't up to par with the likes of Stevie Ray Vaughn or Joe Satriani, but it's free and a couple of songs are ok. I'll burn a CD for road trips, but none of the tracks will make it to my mp3 player.
Really I should have given it just two stars.

This sampler is chalk full of great music by Sargent House bands. It has something for everyone, and in the end - I guarantee you'll find a new band or sound you really enjoy.
