Not impressed either July 24, 2010 Nora I would so much like the cd-album but this is not available from the Orange Mountain music. Neither is the mp3-download for those who lives outside the US. Very sad.
Par excellence March 27, 2010 David Thierry (Chicago, IL United States) This sampler does exactly what it is supposed to do. Makes you appreciate the variety of the output and makes you hungry to buy and explore more. I only managed one act of his opera Aknaten as I felt he just kept repeating the same thing over and over again, the usual complaint. When confronted by the larger accomplishment you acknowledge the variety and the uniqueness of each effort. If you keep listening to this stuff you're bound to get it at some point. There are often glimpses of beauty that one does not expect.
Good vibe music... March 5, 2010 Fred Gary Haun (Tampa, USA) I love Philip Glass.
His music is like Muzak you notice, yet never get tired of, and it fits any mood or setting.
It's the instrumental version of "catchy lyrics".
Very Pleasantly Suprised March 5, 2010 Sue (Lancaster County, Pa) I am a soundtrack (movie score) enthusiast. There are alot of composers right now who are writing excellent music, all to be hidden in movie soundtracks. Most people don't even realize that the music they are hearing behind all the action, talking or what have you, is what is setting the mood for that scene.
However, the stuff I collect are the loud, orchestra driven guys. John Williams, Harry Gregson Williamson, Hans Zimmer, Klaus Badelt. I like action movies and the scores that go with them.
That being said, when I came across this with the free downloads, and saw the tracks being offered, I figured what the heck, its free. I honestly had never heard of Mr. Glass. Now that I have, I will be looking for more of his stuff.
Different moods are covered in this collection, from quiet and relaxing, to pensive. The orchestration is quite good, and the solo piano pieces are wonderful and relaxing.
Thanks to Orange Mountain Music for this wonderful collection, and to Amazon for offering this in a way that helps to get this type of music heard.
Perfect State of Mind February 23, 2010 Michael Thomas (Leland, NC) A lot of variety. I really enjoyed most of it. Certain compositions had me closing my eyes making me believe I had no worries and in a place of comfort.
